Prior to joining MWCSD and Sound Asleep, Vishal was Medical Director at the University of Michigan’s Sparrow Health System in Ionia, MI. Over his nine-year tenure there, he pioneered and launched sleep medicine services in rural communities, strategically expanding accessibility to essential healthcare resources. Vishal was instrumental in getting the hospital’s sleep labs to achieve AASM accreditation for the very first time, giving the practice the ability to accept Medicare patients while allowing critical operations to sustain and generate revenue.
Vishal has also served as Medical Director for Allegan General Hospital in Allegan, MI where he acquired and resuscitated a failing critical access hospital in a rural, underserved area, successfully converting it into a flourishing practice for comprehensive sleep medicine.
Earlier in his career, Vishal was a family medicine doctor in Lansing, MI and was affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area. He is also is a published author, public speaker, and media influencer in the areas of COVID-19 impacts on sleep, sleep apnea, insomnia, idiopathic hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness), and other topics.
